MOURNING IN THE COMMONS

50 to 100 Activist Performers Needed!

Part Guerilla Theater, part flash mob, part musical, the public performance intervention MOURNING PAPERS needs 50 to 100 activist performers to participate in an ensemble performance piece designed to challenge the disconnect between the deaths we read about in our daily papers and our individual and collective actions. No prior performance experience is necessary, only a desire to explore new ways to awaken the transformative potential of collective grief over the rising body counts in Iraq as well as those on the streets of our Bay Area cities.

Performers will meet in front of the Martin Luther KIng Memorial Fountain in Yerva Buena Gardens at 1:30, Sunday, Noveember 23rrd where they will review the score which they will then perform from 1:45-2:30. Wear black and bring a section of newspaper. Post-performance debriefing sessions will take place at a neighborhood cafe or pub.
